Founded in 1931 - The Australian Pony Stud Book is a society formed to register and promote a wide range of pony breeds within Australia. The Society is a national body governed by a Federal Council that meets twice yearly. Each State of Australia, excluding Tasmania, has three delegates represented on the Council.
Each two years a Stud book is produced listing the ponies, teir colour, height, brands, breeder and owners. Journals and newsletters are produced by Branches and the Council. The membership of the Society, nation wide, is approximately 4,000 members. Over the almost 76 year history of the Society there have been over 110,000 ponies registered with the Society.
