Only months after having 30 animal cruelty charges laid against them, Westpork have been charged with further animal cruelty offences by the Western Australian Department of Local Government. These new charges come as a result of an investigation carried out after the earlier charges were laid in February this year.
Westpork are one of Australia’s largest pork producers. Their General Manager, Neil Ferguson, holds positions on multiple pork industry boards. The Greens are again calling for Ferguson to stand down from his board positions until the charges have been heard in court.
Western Australian Agriculture Minister Terry Redman is declining to comment while legal proceedings are still ongoing.
