Nasosipi Parrots - Conures, Caiques, Ringnecks and Eclectus!

The Alexandrine Parakeets are independent but social and make excellent pets, as they are playful, not nippy and a good talker. Although affectionate, it does not like to be cuddled as much as some other parrots.

They are adventurous and enjoy new toys and activities. While they do not enjoy as much handling as other parrots, Alexandrine parakeets do like being touched and stroked on occasion. These birds enjoy showering in the rain, so regular indoor showers or spraying them with a bottle is ideal.

Alexandrine Parakeets can be noisy and a prolific chewer, so provide wooden toys. They can also be aggressive toward other birds, so it is best to house Alexandrine parakeets in separate cages. These pet birds need a varied diet with plenty of fruit, vegetables and greens.  

Alexandrine parrots are known for their talking ability - teaching and encouraging your pet alexandrine to talk is one way to reduce undesirable screeching in your pet.

The Alexandrine is somehwhat bigger than the commonly known Ring neck - with beautifully long tail drops - both the males and thefemailes have cherry coloured plumage on teir shoulders and the males get a gorgeous ring around their neck as they mature...

I have heard another breeder, Mr Adams, refer to the Alexandrines as the labradors of the parrot world :)

If you want a medium to large sized parrot with a fantastic talking and mimicking ability, you cannot go past Impulse Parrots wonderful hand raised alexandrines.  There is no difference in pet quality or talking ability between a male and female alexandrine and they are both very intelligent with a fantastic learning ability so teaching them a variety of tricks is achievable with patience and time.

We only hand raise a limited number of Alexandrines a year and they are priced at $350.  All our hand raised birds are inside with us and are socialised with all the time to ensure that when they go to their new home they are comfortable with people and being outside of their cage.

We breed the Australian native Budgerigars more commonly called wild or 'Bush Budgies' (these are the small green budgies [180mm including a 95mm tail] found in the grasslands of central Australia). You do not need a permit to keep Bush Budgies. However, it is illegal to take them from the wild without the appropriate government permits.
We can air freight anywhere in Australia. Our budgies have been supplied to zoos, wildlife parks and universities across Australia. We have a blue gene in our flock with occasional blue bush budgie baby birds.

 Green cheeks are relatively small birds, with BIG personalities! 

This can be a good thing, because they're so smart and interactive, but it can also be a bad thing,.

When you're looking for any pet parrot, or pet at all, it is wise to put together a list of which personality traits you'd like to see in your pet.  Some of the traits many people would like include a cuddly, playful and one which is intelligent and curious.

LOOK NO FURTHER - Green cheeks have all of these traits!  
                                      Conures in general tend to be very cuddly, but in all birds, including green cheeks, it depends a lot on the individual.  Most green cheeks just adore having their heads and necks rubbed; many also like to be petted all over and some will allow you to do things like flip them over on their backs and rub their tummies.  But, there are some individuals who will accept cuddling and touching only on their terms, and may not want it that often... and there are a few who'd rather not be touched a lot at all.  Still, these are the exception! 

Green cheeks do love to play!  Toys can be store-bought, or home-made, and they can also be things yo would least expect - like children, they may prefer the box, over the actual toy!!!    

Green Cheeks today are available in a variety of colours - here at Nasosipi Parrots, we have two pair of normal green cheeks and 2 and possibly 3 pair of colour mutation green cheeks - this past season we bred colours such as: the gorgeous Pineapple, Cinamon split yellow side, Cinnamon and Normal split Cinnamon split yellow side... this upcoming year we have a gorgeous new pair which we are hoping will give us even more stunning pineapples and add Yellow side and Yellowside split cinnamon to our range of coloured hand raised babies...

Crimson Bellies are absolutely stunning to look at, with a personality to match - they are a sweet, calm quiet and charismatic parrot.  They are in the same family, Pyrrhura,  as the Green cheek conure.

We were impressed by their gentle nature from the very moment we bought our first hen 'Ruby' home...

Obviously, we adore Green Cheek Conures, and like their "cheeky" attitudes. Likewise, I love the Sun Conure and its easy going even temperament. However, the Sun Conure call is so loud that it can wear on me, at times. The Crimson Bellied Conure seems to have more of an even keeled temperament, than that of the Sun Conure, without the loud call.

To date, the Crimson Bellied Conure is a very rarely found as a pet and seems to be somewhat unknown in the pet population... I am confident that once the word gets around and people see for themselves the wonderful pet potential of this stunning Crimson Bellied Conure, the more popular they will become!!

Also known as Rock Conures - the Black Capped Conure would be the softest natured and most dainty of the pyrrhurra conures - in my opinion.

They share the same affectionate, inquisitive and playful personality, but they seem to be more laid-back than most conures, but they can also be described as timid with new people. They love human companionship and have been known to learn a few words or phrases and tricks.

The Black Capped Conure's plumage is mostly green with a dark brown-black cap, whitish scaly neck & breast, red wing coverts (upper, not lower - along leading edge) and a black beak.

One of our breeding pair - Donald and Daisy are in fact so laid back that with their very first clutch last season, they permitted me to inspect the nest, touch, pick up and replace their little baby twice per day, whilst sitting in the enst box the whole time... They successsfully raised their very first chick all by themselves - this little boy is now for sale...

The Peach-fronted Conure is an average size of 10 inches (25 cm) in length and weighs around 3.7 ozs. (105 g). They have a greyish-green back with a lighter green color on the breast. The forehead and part of the crown are bright orange. The rest of the crown is blue-green. They have black tips on the wings and blue tips on the tail. Similar to the Sun and Green cheeked conures, the beak is black.

They are similar in appearance and size to the three subspecies of Orange-fronted Conures such as the Half-Moon Conure but have a smaller black beak rather than horn colored, and their colored frontal band is larger. They originate from these countries: Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay and northwestern Argentina.

All our babies are spoon feed in a very clean, non-smoking environment (our home) with many toys and given lots of attention from family members. All our babies are spoon fed from the age of 12 days with NeoCare. As they get older they are  socialized with other birds as much as possible (we try not to raise too many at one time). We wean our gorgeous babies onto seed, pellets, soaked seed and plenty of fruit and veg.

We take deposits and once you have a baby on hold you are welcome to visit.  After you take one of our babies home you will have our support for as long as you need it and if you are having difficulty choosing which breed is right for you we will help with that also.

Sun Conures make amazing pets with quite a long lifespan - with some living for 20+ years - so the decision to get one as a pet is most certainly a long term commitment.

The personality of the sun conures most certainly matches its vibrantly coloured plumage - they are incredibly playful and love to interact with their humans - its is vitally important to ensure time is spent with your pet daily.

As like most captive parrots, they love to keep busy at play, during the day, when you may be away from home - a variety or rotational toys is highly recommended - natural wood toys, natural seed pods ie gumnuts, foraging toys and so on...

The single and probably the most important thing to consider when buying a sun conure, is the noise level of their call.  Whilst they are a beautiful and intelligent bird, the noise factor must be taken into consideration, if neighbours are in close proximity or if one of the family members is not keen on birds...

A young or juvenile sun conure has predominantly green plumage, which moults into a stunning golden red and bright yellow, as they mature - this can be seen on our website when comparing the babies for sale adn the breeding pairs in our photo gallery...
