The Famous Alex,
The talking African Grey Parrot just died...
The world of parrot lovers will be
saddened to hear that Alex who has been seen on TV and even
U-Tube has died of unknown causes on 7th September 2007.
Alex was owned by Dr Irene Pepperberg from the Alex Foundation
www.alexfoundation.org
which is a not-for-profit organisation in the USA. The mission
of The Alex Foundation is to improve the lives of parrots
in captivity and preserve those in the wild. Dr Pepperberg’s
work with teaching parrots to use speech appropriately to
show intelligent behaviour. Alex the famous talking parrot
has amazed the world with his use of speech and ability
to respond to spoken commands. He will be sadly missed.

Alex was very well known and loved
here in Australia. The chat lines here are buzzing with
tears. Alex will be remembered forever as will Dr Pepperberg's
famous and valuable work with parrots.
