RSPCA NSW taking a radical, new approach to rehoming!

RSPCA NSW’s latest appeal hit households this week and focused on the upcoming RSPCA Care Centre – an adoption centre and outpatient vet clinic that will be opened in Rouse Hill by the end of this year.

The RSPCA Care Centre aims to rehome more animals in a welfare-friendly
environment and to educate the community about responsible pet ownership.

“Ultimately our goal is to decrease euthanasia and increase adoptions. The Care
Centre is an exciting new concept and avenue which will allow us to do this,” said
RSPCA NSW CEO Steve Coleman.

“Many people actually avoid coming to shelters because they find the experience too emotional. RSPCA Care Centre Rouse Hill will be about celebrating the responsible pet choices of our supporters.”

“Integral to this project is the care and protection of animals. As the RSPCA, we are subject to scrutiny and we must be exemplary in our commitment to animal welfare. We have created an environment where animals come first. You will never see puppies in the window at Rouse Hill.”

Every animal will be transported from the Sydney shelter at Yagoona. Like all
RSPCA animals, the Rouse Hill residents will be desexed, microchipped,
behaviourally tested and vet checked. The RSPCA will also be providing a range of animals of different sizes and ages (not just cute puppies and kittens), and the staff will be RSPCA accredited. The RSPCA has also set up a blog to track progress of the development; you can view it at www.RSPCAcarecentre.blogspot.com

To make this successful, RSPCA NSW is asking supporters for donations for the
care and transport of animals to the Care Centre. The RSPCA hopes the centre will be a collaboration between the organisation and its loyal supporters who they are urging to come on board as founding partners in the exciting new venture. For more information or to donate, go to www.rspcansw.org.au or call 1300 777 221.

The goals of the RSPCA Care Centre:
• Decrease euthanasia by increasing adoptions
• Promote responsible pet ownership through education
• Provide expert advice that is accurate and in keeping with our policies
• Provide a service that is of the highest standards for both Animal Welfare and
Customer Service.
