Happy Endings
What you might (or might not) find interesting is that all the animals listed on the Happy Paws Happy Endings pages are in animal shelters, local pounds, or animal welfare organisations. Although it might be tempting to just get a cat from a pet store or registered breeder, think about getting your next best friend from an animal rescue . |

Vinni
The V-team are a part of a deceased estate, their owner dying not long ago in Yamba. Their mother was adopted by the owners daughter and the father by the owners son but no-one could take the 8 week old pups and they did not want them to go to the pound. Vini is the last of this beautiful litter of 5 sooky playful pups. He went to a home in victoria but missed having people around during the day. He has been immunised, de-sexed, micro-chipped, regularly wormed, de-flead and treated for heartworm. They are beautiful playful well socialised cuddly affectionate puppies and they all have really nice natures. None of them have any health issues or special requirements .

Garth
Garth and his brother and sisters were found with their mother under a house between the river and the cemetery. Their Ginger mum needed a quiet place to have her babies so chose behind a pillar in a dark corner in the basement of a lovely house. She was discovered after the kittens were born, although the people happily fed her they could not keep her so they called HappyPaws Haven. The whole family, G-Team, is available for adoption, Gabby the mum has graduated to the juvenile area as she is only a young cat herself of less than 2 years. They are lovely affectionate playful kittens who love to be cuddled and will happily come up to you for a smooch..

Elmo
Elmo, Enzo and Emma were a small litter of Dane/Lab/Kelpie cross which were surrendered to HappyPaws Haven at the middle of last year. The mother got out and fell pregnant while the owners were away. They are lovely natured pups who get on with other pups, a bit timid with adult dogs but love people and cuddles.
They are well adjusted normal healthy playful mischievous pups looking for a loving home. They will grow to be medium to large dogs going by the size of their paws. All three got homes and all was well for sometime. We have a policy that we will take the dogs back should circumstances change.
Not long ago we received a call from Elmo’s owner saying that they were not able to take care of him anymore as work requirements had changed and he was not getting the walks and attention Elmo needed. Elmo has not been to training, he has not given him consistent rules and boundaries nor given him consistent leadership this causes confusion as it does in all children and they do not know what is expected of them. Since he has been back he has been a delight to have, he is gentle with children, does not jump up, only barks when someone comes, he gets on with the other dogs, occasionally can be a little apprehensive rather than timid and like all big dogs he is a gentle giant with a lovely nature, he does not have a mean bone in his body. He is a big boy weighing in at over 30kgs. He is very human centric and wants to be a part of what is ever happening. He may become possessive of his human in regards to other dogs on his territory. He is fine here and plays well in his pack.

Arlo
Arlo is a part of the A-Team which are 5 pups who were saved along with 2 others from being drowned by their owner. When the rescuer heard what was happening she rang HappyPaws Haven to see if we would take them if she could save them. We of course agreed, they were in a very poor state when they arrived full of fleas and worms which took nearly a week to correct. They are now beautiful healthy puppies who are approximately 12 weeks old, had their 2nd puppy vaccination and are de-sexed and micro-chipped. We are not sure of their parentage but it is a small breed mixed with something else. They have been playing with the m-team and are well socialised with people.

Ameigo - Megi for short
Ameigo, our Beagle, is trained termite hunter/sniffer dog although I am not sure how good he is at finding them. He was born in August 2005 and gained his certificate at the end of 2006. He worked for Creepy Crawley until 2 years ago, at which time he was surrendered by the company for re-homing. He was adopted by a family near Yamba, whose circumstances have changed and have had to move due to the special needs of one of their children and they are unable to take any of their pets with them. He is a lovely dog good with kids, especially those with disabilities.

Yani - Our beautiful Dingo cross - Adoption Pending
Little Yani was found on the Gwydir Highway when she was only 2 months old. We exhausting every channel to find her owner. She was fairly traumatised at first but is more than ok now. We have put her with all types of dogs and gets on well with them. She has no idea what a cat is! So generally takes no notice. She is an active young dog with a natural tendency to herd, she has a gentle nature and can be a bit of a sook.
She is still wary of new humans at first and has a natural affinity with children. She has started training at Grafton dog Obedience Club and has already passed basic manners. She really enjoys learning new things! She loves to play games with you so is sometimes hard to put to bed as she thinks its time to play. She can be naughty which is a part of her engaging personality and is typical of any teenager of any species! she is very athletic, cunning and extremely intelligent. She needs mental and physical stimulation or will get bored easily so needs to be in an active home with new things to do and experience.

Rusty2
Rusty is a lovely ex-farm red and white kelpie who did not want to work the cattle instead he wants to play with his canine and human friends. He was very scared of everything when he first arrived. He has a cauliflower ear due to a haematoma probably from being beaten. He has come out of his shell now and loves being with other dogs but always takes the submissive role which makes him vulnerable as a potential victim or the dog that gets picked on. He is cautious of humans but soon relaxes when he knows you wont hurt him. He has a lovely gentle nature and has had some basic training. He is fine with kids and does not jump up at people to greet you. He does bark at horses or cattle but is not a barker generally at all. He would make a lovely family dog.

She is great with kids and would love a mate to play with, two or four legged is fine. She does not jump up and has had some basic training, she is a gentle soul!

Shelley2
Shelley is a shy but affectionate little black and white young cat who never puts herself forward when someone comes to adopt a cat. She sits in the back ground waiting for someone to take the time to discover her but when you do she loves a cuddle and snuggles into your shoulder purring. It seems she is trying to thank you for finding her. She is just happy to sit and soak up the sun, she is not highly energetic, keeps to herself but can be inquisitive at times, she just a very loving cat who is grateful to be alive.

TIGER
I am only a new comer to HappyPaws Haven. I am only approximately 18 months old. I need to be an inside cat as I love to try to catch birds and wild life if I am let out. My owner is with Wires and could not nurse sick natives back to health and have me too as I just wanted someone to play with. I would very much like to find a forever home, someone to love and look after me in exchange for smooches, someone to curl up with at night. I am wormed, de-flead, micro-chipped, de-sexed and immunised.

SAKI aka GREMLIN
Saki aka Gremlin  and her brothers and sister were found in a box, balanced on the letter box on very cold and frosty morning at about 6am. They were less than 4 weeks old at the time and should have still been with their mother. It was a wonder the box with no lid had not fallen to the ground and they would have frozen to death. They are beautiful kittens with loving personalities who purr as soon as you pick them up. They love their cuddles. They have been de-sexed micro-chipped, immunised, regularly treated for worms and fleas ready for their new homes.

Harvey - family dog
Harvey is a gorgeous lovable pup, probably a bull arab staffy cross but who knows. He was bought as a pup and the people soon grew tired of him as they did not realise how much work a pup is. He then was given to someone down the road, who didn't really have time for him but didn't know what to do. He was too nice to go to a pound so was bought out to HappyPaws Haven instead. He is a very loving loyal young pup who just wants to be with you and to please you. He gets on with other dogs and other animals. He knows the basic commands and wants to learn, He would suit a family who had kids to play with him or another young dog.He is very placid and easy to have around as long as he can be with you he is happy.

Marty
Marika was saved by a lovely lady who bought her to HappyPaws Haven, she was found chained to a veranda abandoned and heavily pregnant. Three days latter she gave birth, the vet said she was holding them back until she was safe. The babies were born in the middle of June when it was bitterly cold so probably would not have survived. We built a whelping box on the day she arrived and made sure she was comfortable. The puppies are now nearly 12 weeks old. As Mum was a Lab Bull Arab cross and we think dad was some sort of Mastiff they pups are going to be big dogs as at 11 weeks they were all at least 11 kgs with the boys being a little more. They have wonderful gentle personalities, have been well socialised with humans and other dogs. They will be gentle giants and will make wonderful family pets. They have all had their puppy vaccinations, de-sexed and micro-chipped ready for their new homes.

Karli
Karlie was rescued from death row at Lithgow pound. We are not sure exactly how old she is as the paperwork came with two different years of birth, one makes her 7 and the other makes her 3, if we look at her behaviour and energy level her age is definitely closer to 3 than 7. She loves playing with the 12 week old pups and is acting as their guide, She is very sweet natured and like anything that has Belgian in it is demanding attention and cuddles. She is however very gentle and definitely does not try to bowl you over. She gets on with most dogs and apparently takes little notice of cats. We have had to cut her coat back a little due to the mats we found, they were just dreadful, but we spent the time and she was very forgiving as we worked through them all, an exceptional dog. She does need to be a companion dog and be in an environmental where someone is around most of the time.

Angel
Angel has been with us since she was a kitten nearly 3 years ago. She was quite feral initially and it has taken sometime for her to learn to trust humans. I know she will continue to demand more attention as time goes on and will get to the stage when she demands cuddles too! She just needs and loving patient owner and she will reward you in spades.

YUKI very affectionate and loving
Our mother Yindi was dumped in an abandoned house in Westlawn, a suburb of Grafton, where she had us. We seemed to be ok until the builders came in to renovate. Mum then moved us to the back of a shed next door where a nice couple found us and called HappyPaws Haven. Our carer tried to find Mums owner without any success so kept us so we could be well looked after. Our whole family is really affectionate and purr when ever we are picked up. We love cuddles and are very smoochy young cats. We are reasonably layed back but still quite playful especially in the cool of the day. We would love a home of our own and a special human to love us. We are of course de-sexed micro-chipped immunised regularly wormed and flea treated

Zoe4
Zoe4 was rescued from the RSPCA at Toowoomba, we think she was an ex-air force intelligence dog who lost her owners due to the Toowoomba floods. She has a sweet nature, not a mean bone in her body, fine with other dogs but is timid with humans she does not know. She is not a fear biter but cowers when you meet her. She also takes a little time to accept you. She can get out and over most fences so will need some special care until she learns to trust you. She is a beautiful dog but needs to be close to her human so would better in a household where you are retired or work from home and are home most of the time. She is well behaved and well trained and a very loving dog if given the opportunity. She is an escape artist so needs to be in a holding pen with a roof so that she can't get out when you are not around. She is house trained and would prefer to be with you all the time. She would be good at obedience, or agility or something similar for mental and physical stimulation. She can if she wants to jump a 6ft fence. She is aprroximately 3 years old and is de-sexed, micro-chipped and immunised ready for her new home.

BLAKE
Blake has used up several of his nine lives as he was dumped after his mother was found dead in a park, someone had strangled her and killed most of the litter but for some reason Blake survived. When he was a month old he was mauled by a dog which again he survived, but it was touch and go as the dogs saliva caused a severe infection and Blake lost the hair off his face, the skin on his nose became very swollen giving him breathing difficulties and the edge of his ears swelled and died. Today you would not know as everything has grown back and looks normal. But that is not all, after he was de-sexed he must have gotten into a tiff with another teenage kitten as we found him in a corner very ill and hardly moving, when he was picked up an abbess on his spinal column burst and he was rushed yet again to South Grafton Veterinary Clinic. He spent a week in hospital and recovered. He is now completely better and ready for his new home. He is a lovely smoochy in your face chatter box which is very typical of an oriental cat. He is of course de-sexed micro-chipped immunised de-flead and wormed.

We come micro-chipped, de-sexed and immunised and we are all regularly wormed and de-flead.

MIKA WHITE & BLUE
Mika is a beautiful white and blue teenage cat. He was found with his mother and his brothers and sisters in a park in Grafton during summer. His mother had been was dumped when her owner discovered she was pregnant and she tried to find a safe place for her babies to be. A nice lady fed Mikas mother every morning and night knowing the kittens had been hidden down a big storm water drain. This lady was from HappyPaws Haven after a lot of patience eventually befriended the mother and the kittens. She then with help from a friend was able to trap them and put them the family safely into care so that they had the chance to survive. This allowed them to grow into the beautiful loving affectionate kittens.

BAXTER
Benton, Bridget and Baxter were bought into South Grafton Vet clinic because their mother had gotten sick and could not feed them anymore. After they were checked over they were taken to HappyPaws Haven to be nursed and bottle fed. They are beautiful affectionate loving young cats who purr as soon as you see them. They love being with you and getting cuddles. They are only 9 months old so can be still playful and mischievous. They do seem to get the snuffles more easily than other kittens especially Baxter. They have been regularly wormed de-flead, micro-chipped, de-sexed and immunised like all the animals at HappyPaws Haven.

Mia

The owner had left taking her children and some of her processions leaving the animals in the house and the furniture on the front lawn. The RSPCA was called as was HappyPaws Haven and the Pound. A relation was informed by SMS what had been done so she kindly fed the animals over the week-end and took them to Riverbank Animal Hospital to be surrendered. Once all the vet work was done the animals were bought out to HappyPaws Haven. Sassey
Sassey is a little pure breed rough coat Jack Russell who is almost 4 years old. She was rescued from someone who was moving towns and could not take her with them because they were not allowed pets in their new accommodation. The lady who rescued her then got jealous as little Sassy paid more attention to her partner and would cuddle up under his chin every night. The ultimatum was made for him to chose between the dog and the lady concerned even though she was the one who rescued Sassy in the first place. Sassy is a lovely companion dog, she is not over the top like a lot of Jack Russel’s, she only barks when necessary when some one strange appears, she is house trained and seems to get one well with other dogs. She is a great loyal little lady and would make a great mate and companion for someone. She is loving, affectionate but knows her own mind.

Chelsie Mai
Chelsie Mai’s teenage owner had to move out of the area with her mother, before they left towards the end of last year they organised a new home for Chelsie Mai with and older man who lived in the same street. Not long afterwards he became unwell so was not able to look after her anymore. He son Jack decided to take Chelsie Mai and promised his Dad he would look after her. He had always had Foxies so was not sure how much to feed her and she seemed to be always hungry yet loosing weight. He did not know what to do as he didn’t have any money to spend on a vet. A volunteer for HappyPaws Haven lived in the same street and observed how skinny Chelsie Mai was getting so suggested that she should be surrendered to HappyPaws Haven and he agreed. Chelsie is a lovely dog at just over 12 months old, gets on with other dogs and cats. She was full of worms and fleas when we got her, but that is all fixed now she is putting on weight again, she has been de-sexed, chipped and immunised and is ready for a new home. Ideally she should have another dog to play with and some kids and should not be left for hours on end without human contact or she will become a barker. She loves kids to play with her so we hope a lovely family will come to adopt her.

Zoe3 - your new agility champion
Zoe was originally apart of the D-team who were dumped just out of town on their own to fend for themselves when they were only 10-12 weeks old. They are beautiful kelpie cross young dogs, who naturally want to round up everything they see. They are beautiful playful well socialised cuddly affectionate young dogs. They have been de-sexed, immunised, wormed and chipped. All went to wonderful loving new homes. Daphne has come back to us as Zoe. The kids lost interest once she grew out of puppy hood, the family moved into a new neighbourhood and the parents due to work had little time for her. She decided to learn to find her own amusement when everyone was out or just too busy. Every evening she would go for a long job around the neighbourhood meeting with a friendly runner. She would visit others during the day with the hope they would have time to play. She is extremely athletic, can jump over fences, onto the top of the dog trailer just to see what there is to see, through tunnels without a second thought. She has good confirmation, highly energetic, super confident. She is highly intelligent and just wants to please. She would be excellent at agility, herding, flyball and obedience. She needs something or a job to do which requires plenty of human company. She is a very loving dog ready for you.

Bobbie
Bobbie was found wandering around Dovedale over a period of 2 weeks after the fireworks at the show. He was picked up and taken home by a lovely lady on a Friday afternoon and looked after until he could be taken to a vet to be scanned. He had no chip so was taken to the pound. After his 7 days he was taken to Riverbank vet hospital to be de-sexed, immunised and micro-chipped. He is in foster care since as we thought he had a home to go to. He is a lovely friendly boy, gets on with other dogs, plays fetch, sleeps with cuddly toy, house trained, ok with kids and would make a great family dog!

SPOOKY
Spooky and Thomas were found near a dairy at Ulmara, we don’t know who our parents are as we were so little when we were found. Another feral mum who had some kittens adopted us and we became apart of her family. Spooky is a little shy of new people but once he gets to know you he soon loses his shyness and becomes a beautiful playful, mischievous kitten.

Keeley - the agility dog - adoption pending
My name is Keely and I am Frankie and Duke’s sister, we were a litter of 9 but there is only 3 of us left now. Â We were bought to HappyPaws Haven just before Christmas. Our mother was a blue heeler and Dad was an Elfinvale Kelpie, from Victoria which is a special type of working kelpie. Mum's owners were going away for Christmas holidays and they had arranged for someone to look after her, but we were too much apparently so we came to this place. Although we are having so much fun with a lovely yard to play in, we really need to find a home of our own now. People come and see us, we have other puppies to play with, and we have being going to basic training on Sunday at the Grafton Dog Obedience Club which we really love as it is something new to do! We are immunised, micro-chipped and de-sexed ready to go to our new homes. Life is so good!

VENUS - BURMESE ORIENTAL CROSS
Venus was very tired and hungry when she came across a lovely lady in Townsend who had lost her own cat to cancer. At first Venus just would duck in take the food and bolt, then after a while she let her adopted carer to stroke her. Her carer noticed that Venus was getting very fat, she became concerned as she was about to go away and did not want Venus to fend for herself while being very pregnant. The carer rang HappyPaws Haven so she would be safe and cared for while she had the babies and happily sponsored Venus care costs. Venus gave birth to 6 beautiful kittens who are now old enough to leave mum for homes of their own. Venus is a beautiful linx point burmese oriental cross with a lovely gentle nature and would love a place to call her own.

FLAKEY
My name is Flakey and I am not sure why I have been called that, maybe it is the flakes of grey that appear on my white coat and my grey tail. I love exploring, discovering new places and things. I have a sister called Patches and live with Spooky and Thomas. It was our mother who volunteered to look after the two boys, they are just like brothers to us.
I have been told that I am a bed hogger. I like to sleep with my human all the time, hanging toys are my favourite whether they hang from a door or off a stick I just love to play with them. I am easy to give medication too just put me on my back like a baby and open up my mouth and I wont fight you to take any pills you might have to give me. I am not so keen on the pink stuff that my carer some times gives me when my tummy is upset or when I have diarrhoea. I Â loves my special food, IAMS for sensitive stomachs and I know my name but I'm sure if you change it I will get used to it. I like being carried around as I am a bit of a sook and I love to lay in the sun near a window. Dogs don't worry me as my carer always has a few around. I must have a scratching post, the bigger the better as I love playing on them. Demanding aren’t I but I am worth it I promise.

MADDI
Maddi and Mako were born at HappyPaws Haven. There mum Michele was rescued from a park in Grafton with a litter of kittens that were already 8-10 weeks old. On examination by the vet it was found that she was already pregnant again so a decision was made to let her proceed with the pregnancy. She had a litter of 5, one was still born, one died within the first week and the others have survived. One has already gotten a home, leaving the beautiful Maddi and Mako to find a home of their own. These are two affectionate kittens who love to cuddle and to play. They have been regularly wormed de-flead, micro-chipped, de-sexed and immunised like all the animals at HappyPaws Haven.

ROCKY
Rocky is the brother of the G-team girls, who were members of a very large litter of Roti/Kelpie cross puppies. Dad was a pure Roti. They were rescued when we saw an advertisement in the paper for free to good home 3 week old pups. Apparently Kelpie cross Mum had rejected them and refused to feed them any more. Rocky was surrendered this week as the people who adopted him from the breeder did not realize how boisterous a young pup can be and were finding hard to cope with a young family and a young pup. He has happily joined his sisters in the puppy pen at HappyPaws Haven. They are lovely natured, soft gentle playful mischievous normal puppies who are happily learning to be dogs. They are very affectionate and love cuddles. They have been de-sexed micro-chipped and immunised. Regularly wormed and treated for parasites and heartworm. They are now ready to find a loving home of their own.

FRANKIE
My name is Frankie and I am apart of the F-team (Frankie, Keeley and Feda), there is only 3 of us left now. We were apart of the litter of 9 who were bought to HappyPaws Haven just before Christmas 2009. People come and see us, we have other puppies to play with, and we have being going to basic training on Sunday at the Grafton Dog Obedience Club which we really loved as it was something new to do! We are immunised, micro-chipped and de-sexed ready to go to our new homes. Life is so good! I am a very athletic dog and would love to do herding and or agility as I have lots of energy to burn and I have been told that I move very quickly. I naturally try the herd everything I can including my play mates. In fact I went to a farm for a short period but the farmer brought me back because he was in his seventies and I was to fast for him. I don’t like travelling on the back of a ute or chained up in a box trailer as it is very scary, I much prefer to travel in a car. We are a very intelligent and learn very quickly. We are more finely built and not as tall as some kelpies but that is why we can move so quickly and are sort after for agility, fly ball or herding. We need a job to do or exercised twice a day or to learn some of these sporting activities otherwise we get bored. We are not good at being inclosed in a yard day after day with nothing to do. We will make a wonderful loyal, affectionate pet as long as we have lots of walks or outings. We do love our cuddles and being with people so don’t leave us home alone for long periods, day in day out, its ok occasionally but not all the time.

RUBEN
I came to HappyPaws Haven last November. Mum had dumped me to fend for myself as she was being chased by a dog and she never came back. I made my way to the nearest human’s house to see if I could find her and or some food and a bed for the night. The first human shooed me away but the second one took me in for a couple of days and then took me to this great place called HappyPaws Haven where I have been ever since. All my friends are being adopted and I hope it will be my turn soon.

IBI
Ibi was a present to a mum from a son, for mothers day. Being a kelpie he is very energetic and was to much for the owner. Also her life style was such that she is out a lot not quite what a young puppy needs. Ibi would be happy in an active house hold, kids to play with, lots of walks and maybe another dog for company when ever one is out or at school. He has a great personality, loves people kids and other dogs. He gets on with everyone! a great pet for an active family especially with space to play and run.

ANDIE
Andie is the last of the A Team Roti Keeshond cross puppies now 12 months old. Before Christmas we thought he had a home but he was too nice and did not like being outside at night as he thought it was too scary. He has a really nice soft nature so I adopted him on his return. Andie is extremely placid, laid back, gets on with all dogs, kids and people. He hardly ever barks, and only if there is a strange noise thus he make a great watch dog. He is a quiet for young dog, a thinker, but he can still be playful and mischievous as young dogs are. He is not at all aggressive and would move out of the way of any other dog. He often sits back and watchs from the side lines when other puppies get to rough. He is a very gentle soul and great with kids. He is a highly intelligent thinking dog. He does need some training but will pick it up very quickly as he is extremely intelligent. He would make a lovely family or companion dog and would be great at obedience.

Rosie - needs a home for retirement
Rosie is a ten year old cat with a very independent nature. She loves a cuddle and somewhere warm to sleep. She was described to us when we bought her as a Berman, but I suspect that’s watered down a little. Nevertheless, she is beautiful with the most amazing blue eyes. She has a very quiet ‘meow’ and really is a very undemanding pussy … except at tea time when she loves her dried food, although she is not a fussy eater. She enjoys good health and has been no problem whatsoever in this area. Rosie would flourish in a loving home and would be a great companion. Unfortunately, for family reasons, her current owner has to look for a new, caring home for her and would be so very grateful if someone could offer this to her as she is such a beautiful cat.

LILIBUN
We are delighted to announce that this little girl has FOUND A LOVING HOME!Lilybun is the tiniest baby white rabbit you would ever wish to see. She was found on a vet's doorstep early in the morning. It was a bit frantic at first because she appeared to be too young to eat independently but we tried lots of known rabbit favourite foods and she soon got the idea. She comes to you in an open area like on the lawn or in a room. She loves pats and cuddles. This little bun would make someone a loving and faithful companion rabbit. Litter trained now and will be sold vaccinated with a discount desexing arrangement with your local vet for when the time is right. She will need an outdoor hutch and an indoor cage for nights and cold or wet days.

QUILLIAN - adoption pending
Quillian was found at the show ground after dog training one stormy night, he was taken to the pound just in case his owner lived near by and was looking for him by one of the principal carers from HappyPaws Haven. After he had been there 10 days then HappyPaws rescued him as he was to nice to be put down. He is a lovely boys who would prefer to be with the girls than the other boy cats. He is happy to lie in the sun and sleep, he likes to be stroked and have a cuddle. He does not like being poked and prodded by young kids so would be better as a companion cat rather than being with a family with young kids. He is now immunised, de-sexed, micro-chipped and regularly treated for worms and fleas.

Mitsy - our athletic but shy little girl
Mitsi was surrendered due to the pound in MacLean. She is a lovely young juvenile dog, full of energy, loves to play and is learning to fetch the ball, has not quite mastered it as yet but it won't be long. She needs to do some training, have a large fully fenced back yard or a farm/property, some kids and/or another dog to play with or a job to learn. She has obviously had some basic training as she comes when called, sits, does not jump up and walks on a lead. She is a really lovely young dog who wants to learn and play. She loves people and other dogs although she can be submissive. In fact I think she has been hit because she cowers as soon as I raise my hand and she is not sure how close she can get. She has a strong natural herding instinct so could easily be trained. She needs exercising daily and would be a great agility dog or herding or something similar. Like all border collies although very high in energy and likes to round everything up is very sweet and soft in nature. She is de-sexed micro-chipped and immunized.

Montie
Morrie and Montie are 2 little fox terriers who are less than 12 months old. They were found wandering the streets of Yamba, after searching high and low for their owners they were bought to HappyPaws to be re-homed. They are child friendly, happy little dogs who are house trained, a little shy at first but soon warm up to you and clamber for attention. They would make nice family or companion dogs. They are now immunized, micro-chipped and de-sexed ready for their new homes. They are brothers but do not have to be re-homed together, in fact I suspect they may be better off going to separate homes.

Pepper
Pepper LOVES other dogs, has never shown any signs of agression, even when there is food around she will surrender to the other dog. she is a very social dog and would need the company of other dogs or young kids or someone that is home alot, she has been around toddlers often and will put up with poking and prodding and tail pulling with a big smile on her face. she doesn't jump fences, but if she gets out she wont come when she's called, we have been training her and she is getting better Like all cattle dogs, she will do what comes naturally, she rounds other dogs up and playfully bites their heels but was taught from very early on not to nip people, even in play. She is currently in a yard with Jarad the Corgi cattle cross and they are fine. She doesn't like when the bats fly over in the afternoon, she will run around barking. I have had an animal trainer in a few times and she says its because she's frightened of the hordes of bats that fly over ahead at dusk.. Pepper has grown up being an indoors/outdoors dog that sleeps inside. Once she is inside and settled down with the family she is very quiet and content to fall asleep on her bed. the only times she has barked while indoors is if there has been someone in the yard or around the house that shouldnt be. Pepper easy to bath and will sometimes go for a swim if the water is calm and not too deep. she runs up and down the beach barkin at the waves and chasing them. She loves trotters, tennisballs, tug o wars, sticks to chew, raw chicken wings, devon (as a training reward), bones, she loves going for a drive in the car, and for walks on a quiet beach. Pepper gets nervous around a lot of strange people, she does not like crowds. She will make friends with other dogs in the dog park or out walking. Pepper loves having a cuddle on the lounge, and if you say "wheres my cuddlegirl?" she will put her nose under you chin and snuggle up. she tries to sneek under the blankets when she thinks your asleep. she helps herself to your bed in the middle of the night. she is house trained but has the occasional accident if she cant get out in time. Pepper is such a beautiful natured dog and ideally should go to a home with children and somewhere she can be an indoors dog, and very much part of the family. She HATES lawnmowers and whipper-snippers, has tried to bite a chainsaw before so best to have her indoors when using motorised gardening equipment. She likes coming 4x4ing and would be fine to take camping, but would need to stay on a long line, as she likes to investigate by herself She hasn't been around livestock before but would be a natural cattle herder and a very quick learner She loves going for walks or drives in the car but gets spooked easily the first few times in new areas, but she overcomes that with some encouragement and Devon treats If you are looking for a family dog maybe Pepper is the dog for you?

Yanni is a beautiful pale ginger boy. His mother and his brothers and sisters were found when the babies were tiny in a shed in the back of someone’s yard in Westlawn. Winter - exceptional cat
She is very gorgeous cat with a wonderful nature. Winter was abandoned by her owner when she was pregnant. She was bought to HappyPaws Haven to have her babies in safety. She had 4 babies 2 white boys and 2 black girls. There is only one of each left as the others have found lovely forever homes. Winter is a warm very affectionate loving cat. Like her handsome son she is pure white and fluffy. While Wesley has blue eyes, her daughter has amber eyes, Winter has one is amber eye and the other is sky blue!!!
She is such a loving and gentle cat with personality!
She is young agile and still quiet kitten like, she loves to go for a walk in the garden in her cat harness and lead. Yes she is quite an exceptional cat waiting for an exceptional home!

Paul - gentle friend
Paul was about to be shot by his owner as he would not chase the lure, he had had a couple of starts but each time he turned around to go home. A kind trainer thought he should get a second chance but instead of racing this time to go to a pet home. He was only 2 years old at the time. Paul’s problem is although well breed has a low prey drive. We have walked him and sat him near cats and fluffy little dogs and he ignores them. We are not sure if a kitten ran whether he would chase it or not but he is happy just to sit with them and watch them and sniff and then turn his back to sit in the shade on a hot summers day. He is very laid back and a gentle soul but will hold his own if someone tries to hog the food, he is happy to share, he is a little wary at first but loves attention and would make a beautiful companion. He is de-sexed, which in his case was a major operation as his testes had not dropped so any donation towards this additional cost would be wonderful.

Michelle - our wonderful park cat
Michelle is a beautiful white salmon and blue torti. She was found with her kittens in a park in grafton during summer of 2008/2009. She had been was dumped when her owner discovered she was pregnant and she tried to find a safe place for her babies to be. A nice lady fed her every morning and night knowing the kittens had been hidden down a big storm water drain. This lady was from HappyPaws Haven after a lot of patience eventually befriended Michelle and her kittens. She then with help from a friend was able to trap them and put the family safely into care so that they had the chance to survive. Unbeknown to Sally when she saved Michelle, Michelle was already pregnant again. This soon be came obvious so Michelle was able to have a second litter in safety and as soon as practicable was de-sexed. Michelle has a great personally and rules the juvenile enclosure at HappyPaws Haven. She supervises the volunteers as they clean each day making sure they do a good job. She has a chat from time to time and often wants to be stroked, she follows you around making it known that she is watching what you do. She is our wonderful park cat!!

Derek - sensitive loving gentle kitten
Derek and his siblings where dumped in a box and left on the side of the road with the hope that someone would find them in time, they were only really young and could only just feed themselves. They were bought to HappyPaws Haven by a lovely gentleman who could not keep them himself. They are now lovely healthy affectionate kittens ready for their new home.

Duke
Duke has returned! He was one of the Elfinvale kelpie cattle cross dogs who was adopted as a pup. He went to puppy preschool but not onto obedience training. He was surrendered to happypaws haven because he has become a teenager and needs to be trained and to have rules and boundaries in which to live. He is not the cute puppy he once was which is sad in this disposable world we live in. He needs someone who will spend the time to take him to training, show leadership, set the rules and boundaries. Since being here he already has recognised who is the boss, he is highly intelligent and responds quickly to commands. He gets on with other dogs and with people. He would make a good family dog with older children in mind. He has a loving nature and just wants to please and be with his human.

Little Billy
Billy was surrendered to the Grafton pound by his owner but we are not sure why. He is full of energy, a little skittish which is typical for his breed but once you have him in your arms he loves a cuddle. Sometimes he plays hard to get, teasing by coming up close giving you a little lick then sneaks away. I suspect he is very affectionate looking for lots of love but affraid to ask for it. He is a lovely boy!

Tarraray BC
arraray Just BC "BC" Born: 5th December 2006 Sire: Aus Ch A-Te-Ells Monsieur Shariff (Imp SWD) Dam: Aus Grand Ch Tarraray Lysande Vinnare (IID) ANKC: 2100243796 BC has a lovely personality and can be a little anxious with sudden loud noises. He had a tiff with one of his siblings recently and lost the tip of an ear in the scuffle BC is a loving and devoted boy. He can be a little reserved around strangers but once he knows you he is all over you. Bc is an allergy dog and we have found that he can only be fed Advance Turkey and rice dry kibble/food and turkey wings, necks or drumsticks. This actually works out to be no more expensive than feeding him as you would a normal dog a premium quality dry dog food diet and is available at all good produce stores and the wet available at Woolworths. BC needs a loving home where he is able to interact with the family and does need a fair amount of excercise. He has not been housetrained but knows most of his basic commands. In 2007 BC was our new shining star. He was a joy in the yard and so easy to train. He enjoyed the show ring immensely and had already taken a Best in Group and multiple Best of Breed together with multiple classes in show & group wins. We anticipated big things from this little man!!! But the allergy problem developed, so BC was retired from the show ring over 12 months ago. The allergy problem has now been resolved and BC is ready to go to a wonderful forever home of his own.

Dylan
eg No.:2100195077 Registered Name : Bilbalina Born to Rule, DOB 8/9/04 Dylan is good with other dogs and people, he was a companion dog to a middle age lady since almost a pup and was surrendered due to her death. Dylan likes to chase the hose, he is not that interested in ball games but tug is good too! He would make a good family pet especially with older kids,. He is a real sweet heart as he was a companion dog to a lady. He is house trained and will come when he is called, sit, drop and stay. Just a lovely dog looking for a loving home with a fully fenced backyard. He is de-sexed , micro-chipped, immunised, wormed, treated for fleas and mites and covered for heart worm. He has been very good in the house with his toileting and he loves to travel in the car. Dylan is not a barker he will let out a little yip when he is happy. Dylan needs to be adopted by someone who wants a true companion in life, someone who wants a shadow to follow them wherever they go. Dylan has so much love to give and he needs and deserves someone with as much love to give as him and believe me that is enormous. He is a well behaved dog. If you have been out for a long period, he will be excited to see you and welcome you home. He is well socialised with people and with other dogs both big and small. He is about 23kg in weight and still very playful. AS you know Bull Terriers rarely grow up but they are great dogs!

Harley - a loyal companion
Harley's owner had had him since he was a pup, loved his mate and loyal companion. When ever he was away Harley would go visiting in Glenreagh and that is where he was when his owner was killed in an accident. the family at Glenreagh can't keep him due to their own commitments so bought him to HappyPaws Haven to find him a home. His ideal home would be as a loving constant companion for a special someone who would give him the time to get over his loss and the bond with them. He is timid at first as his world has been turned up side down but it only takes minutes before he warms to you and wants cuddles. He is fine with kids and other animals. He needs to be an inside dog, he is house trained and wants to please. he is de-sexed , micro-chipped, immunised, wormed, treated for fleas and mites and covered for heart worm.

Molly - a very loving dog
If you are looking for a loving dog, Molly is the one for you! She doesn't just wag her tail when she greets you, but she wags her whole body as she is so happy to see you. She's a typical girl and loves to have a chat with whoever will listen. She's not a jumper, and she is very good when it comes to having dinner. She'll sit Stay and wait until we clap our hands (which is the signal that Molly know which means that she can start eating).
Molly currently lives with her brother so may be better off in a family with a male dog to play with and she and her brother get along so well. But like true brothers and sisters, they also have their moments.
She was originally sold to a lovely lady who is on her own with a son and just does not have the time to give to two young dogs. They have chosen to keep Molly's brother Max.
Molly is desexed microchipped and vaccinated and had a little obedience
as you can see she is a beutiful girl but I am biased

Gypsy
Gypsy, Lucy and Ruby were abandoned with 2 cats in a house in South Grafton.
Gypsy is a little Black/Brindle, Foxy Chihuahua cross who is 13 months old, Lucy is a grey and light fawn Maltese cross just over 5 years old and young Ruby is a kelpie cross who is only 6 months old. They all have lovely natures, friendly and are really nice dogs deserving of nice new homes. They can be split up and they get on well with other animals including cats. All were absolutely covered in fleas and have been treated for this and wormed. Lucy has suffered from a flea allergy but her skin is healing well and her hair is growing back so should fully recover. Other wise all are well, de-sexed, micro-chipped and immunized ready for their new homes.

Nuala
Nuala can be a bit timid with strangers at first then once she gets to know you she is quite the opposite, nudging for a pat or cuddle, wanting to be with you as much as she can with little respect for personal space. She is extremely friendly, and demanding as only a Belgian Shepherd can be.
She has had only basic obedience training and most of the time is very obedient, doesn't escape doesnt dig/chew/bark, unless bored. If other dogs are around and treats are being offered she will grab them out of your hands so you need to be careful but if she is on her own it is never a problem she just wants to make sure she does not miss out. She really is a beautiful dog, very loyal and a great companion.

Roxy - Very Special Malinois Excellent at Agilitiy
Roxy is a very typical Belgian Shepherd Malinois and is an highly intelligent and attentive, wary of strangers but not timid or aggressive. She is extremely human centric and wants to be with you and to please you all the time. She will follow you everywhere to be by your side. Like all Belgians she is protective of her family, but does not do well if left alone for long periods of time. She is an athletic, agile, graceful, and elegant Belgian Shepherd so would do well in agility or fly-ball as she is quick, light-footed and loves to play ball. She needs to be challenged and exercised daily or otherwise she will go and find something to do or become naughty. Belgians need both physical exercise and mental exercise (advanced obedience, agility, herding, or tracking sports are ideal). Belgian Shepherds become bored, frustrated, and prone to obsessive behaviors without something to do. This breed is sensitive to correction, so she requires a light hand on the leash . . BUT she also knows her own mind, so you must project firmness and leadership at all times. Belgian Shepherds have lightning-quick reflexes and reactions, which means your timing in giving commands, signals, praise, and corrections must be spot-on, else they will already be off and doing something else. Belgians are also adept at reading your facial expressions and body language that they pick up every subtle movement you make and are constantly anticipating what you're going to do next. It can be disconcerting when your Belgian seems to be reading your mind and staying one step ahead of you. Indeed, this clever dog must be owned and handled by someone who is smarter and more capable than she is and who can stay one step ahead of her. The Malinois is frequently used by law enforcement as a police dog, or in the defence forces and in rescue. This is due to their quick mind, intelligence and physical endurance of the working dog.

Trixie
Trixie is 2 ˝ years old, she was surrendered to HappyPaws Haven as her elderly owners are moving back to a unit in Sydney to be near family as one of them is very ill and needs the medical treatment that only a big city can provide. They were extremely upset to give her up as they had had her since a pup. She is good natured and fine with kids, currently a little over weight due to being too well fed by her owners. She is a Collie Kelpie cross.

Phoenix - loving family dog
My name is Phoenix and theres nothing I love more than chasing sticks into water! I love swimming and I'm very good at it! I enjoy long walks on the beach and making new doggy friends. My birthday is on the 2nd of Feb 2009. My middle name is Sunny 'cos of the orange flecs on my noggin; and because I can brighten the darkest of days with my comedic goofiness! Unfortunately my mum doesn't have enough space for me to be happy in her new accommodation, and no time to take me walking because she has to study. I would love to go to a new home where someone would take me walking everyday and hopefully swimming sometimes too. I'm the best guard dog you'll ever know. "Intruder" is not in my vocabulary, it's on my menu! I'm absoletely fearless and will do ANYTHING to protect my home and the ones I love. It might take you while to get to know me but I never forget a friendly face and I'm EXTREMELY affectionate, especialy when you give me cuddles! I would prefer to be in a home with children at least over 10 years old; I can be a little clumsy with toddlers due to my size and I would HATE to make anyone cry accidently. I really love spending time training and bonding with my loved ones and have a few tricks up my sleeve that my mum taught me. I hope someone takes me soon 'cos I'm just busting to make someone happy :-)

Iggy
Iggy is a border collie cattle cross, and Ivan is a kelpie cross, they are a part litter of 9 who arrived here nearly dead, They had been transported in a plastic box with a blanket over them so they cooked and could not breathe. It took us over 4 hours of hard work to get the sort of back on their feet, well to the point of drinking No sooner had we got them through this drama then they were hit with severe gastroenteritis, they also had an extreme worm burden. Their little gums were so pale I thought we would lose them, as it was we lost 3. Anyway the remaining 6 healthy and ready to go to their new homes. They have been de-sexed, immunised, micro-chipped, regularly wormed and de-flead. Now they are beautiful normal playful puppies making up for lost time.

Samson - our senior citizen
My name is Samson and I am 11 years young. I live near Bondi Beach but my owners are about to move, so I need a new home. My favorite activities involve lots of sniffing at the nearby dog friendly parks and occasionally chasing the ball around with my mates. Years gone past, I was always best on ground with that ball!! Eating right and staying fit are still important to me. Even though I always get compliments from all the tourists about being very very handsome, I’m not really into other humans outside my family. If you look after me, I am loyal and will pay it back ten-fold. I am a very happy boy who always gets excited with a big smile, especially when you come home from work or it’s time for a long walk. I am desexed and visits to the doctor are all up to date. These days, I sleep a lot more than before so I am quite happy lying around the backyard between walks since my current family is away during most work days. I have a big coat in the winter for sleeping outside, but occasionally I get to hang in the lounge-room near my favorite heater. In summer, the crew cut hairstyle is my preferred fashion; improves my glide while swimming. Since I still have my puppy attitude, like to do fun things and be a little cheeky – I will make you very happy if you adopt me. I am still in excellent health although I need a couple of tablets with my dinner every night. I am looking for a new home with a backyard where the people at the new place love me too. Please only call if you have time to play with me and take me for long walks. Please call Greg’s mobile on 0409 033351 if you think you are THE ONE.

Jaylee
Jaylee is from a litter of 7, Mum had stopped feeding them at 4 weeks. The people did not know what to do so they called HappyPaws Haven where initially they were bottle fed but it was not long before they were self feeding. They got a little sick when the others did but soon shook it off quickly. They are an interesting mix of breeds so we have no idea whether they are going to be big, medium or small as mum was a border collie shepherd cross so I have been told and wait for it.... Dad was a staffy chihuahua cross.Although they are nearly the same age as the red kelpies they are smaller. They all have very sweet personalities and love cuddles. They have been de-sexed, immunised, regularly wormed and de-flead and are of course micro-chipped ready for their new homes.

Punki
Kaos, Punky and Rocky were brought to HappyPaws Haven as their owner could not keep them any more due to her landlord giving her the ultimatum to get rid of the pups or to move. Their mum was a pure breed staffy but we think she was a bit of a tart as all the pups seem to be very different as if each has a different father. They are beautiful, affectionate, playful pups who like most staffys love to be with humans.

Chino
Chino is a 5mth old border collie cross. He is a beautiful energetic little boy who loves to please. He knows his basic commands; sit, stay, shake hands, he also waits to eat his dinner until you tell him to eat. Chino is great with other dogs and loves horses but would be more suitable for a home without rabbits. He is also wormed and flea treated. The photo below was taken 1mth ago when he was 4 months old. He will be de-sexed before going to his new home.

Barney - our beautiful senior
Belgian Shepherd (Tervueren) Gold Sable, 9 years young, "BARNEY" was rescued from Renbury Farm in Sydney on the day he was to be put down. Alison informed us at 1100am and by 1300 he was in the van on his way to Grafton just in time. Thanks to Alison, Tanya from Save A Shepherd and Dogmovers for enable this beautiful life to be saved. Barney is a Gorgeous natured boy, very friendly, good with kids & other dogs, loves to have human and other animal company around which is the reason why his owner has surrendered him as family circumstances have changed and Barney is lonely and wanting to escape from his yard. Barney did have a hip operation 2 years ago which with this and older age he does according to his owner have a little arthritis. This is not at all evident as he is in a yard with 2 Dane/Lab puppies and a Kelpie and seems to be keeping up with then well. A carer from Renbury "This boy makes me laugh....he loves to let people know he's around and to make sure they don't ignore him. Then if you do he makes sure the rest of the kennel block doesn't ignore him. Quite a delightful older gentleman....so much so I do not understand what his owners were thinking of, by surrendering him."

Kal
her name is kal and she is 7years old this year, she is a short haired black and white border collie. kal is a wonderful dog who doesnt bark or bite. she is great on a lead and knows basic commands. she does not jump fences and will tie up, and is also friendly with other dogs. she has also been socialized with cattle and horses. kal has never been around a cat but most likely will not fuss about them. she is great around children of all ages and very affectionate. problems with kal.... the only problem (if thats what you'd call it) is she occasionally looks up at the sky and runs after plane lights and streams. she does not bark when doing this but will continue looking up in the sky until she can not see it any longer. the only problem people may find when she does this is she may run into things while she has her eyes set on the planes. other then what i have mentioned above, kal is a well socialized, friendly dog who would suit any family willing to give her the time.

Muffy
Muffy is 7 and a half years old. She is a Shih Tzu/Australian Terrier cross, tan in color. She has been desexed and microchipped. She has had regular checkups with the vet. She is a very friendly dog, has a very gentle nature, loves children and gets on well with other animals. She was given to an elderly lady as a companion after she became a widow in 2002. She passed away in May this year and Muffy went to live with her daughter. Unfortunately she works full time and Muffy is used to having someone with her on a daily basis as a companion dog so is looking for someone who is retired or at home a lot.

ROCKY
Rocky, his brother and sister were brought to HappyPaws Haven as their owner could not keep them any more due to her landlord giving her the ultimatum to get rid of the pups or to move. Their mum was a pure breed staffy but we think she was a bit of a tart as all the pups seem to be very different as if each has a different father. We think Rocky’s father was the local Roti up the road who was caught visiting one night. They are beautiful, affectionate, playful young dogs who like most staffys love to be with humans.

Lloyd
Lloyd is a very sooky border collie cross, loves to be with you all the time and his whole focus is to please. He would be a great obedience or agility dog and would love to try herding or Rally-O. He would also be got at fly ball too. He needs to have both mental and physical stimulation as he is full of energy too. He loves cuddles and is very gentle when he asks for one. He gets on with all dogs but they seem to pick on him so he must have victim printed across his chest. We have him with the puppies to teach them to be nice and not so rough and tumble. He seems to be blossoming in this environment. He was rescued from our pound here and is a lovely gentle boy ready for a family or to learn new skills.

She has lived with small children and is fine with them. She is very affectionate lovely family dog and loves cuddles.
